Tena Morales (Houston), Don West (Dallas), and Scott Angelius (Austin) are hosting a new competition. It's the first annual competition in Texas for Lindy Hoppers - in Austin on Jan 25- 27, 2008.

The vision is to create an annual competition focused on fun and improvisation (aka Social Dance Competitions). This competition is for all that would like to compete in a fun and relaxed environment and those who enjoy watching creative competition and dancing all weekend! It's a social event - not only for the social dancing, but the competitions are social dance competitions: Jack and Jills and Strictlys.

Soul Jam! Sunday November 4th!

Soul Jam! is Sunday, November 4th. Like every other first Sunday of the month we'll have hot soul music, an amazing venue, bar, dancers, and you!

Soul Jam! Sunday October 7th

One more week until Our October Workshop! (Oct 5th - 7th)

There is just one week left to pre-register for Our October Workshop. The workshop is a 2 night, 2 day extravaganza of classes, dances, and fun! We've flown in teachers from all over the US and it's going to ROCK!

There are two tracks available for you. With each track, you get not only the classes during the day, but also get two great dances on Friday and Saturday night.

For experienced dancers, we have the main track: two days of classes totaling over 12 hours of instruction! There will be multiple classes every hour, ranging from beginner/intermediate all the way up to the very advanced. The pre-requisite is that you feel comfortable with the fundamentals of Lindy Hop. Preregister for the price of $100 (it's $115 at the door).

For those that are new to Lindy Hop, or have never done Lindy Hop, there is a special one-day series of classes. Preregister for only $40! That's over 6 hours of instruction and 2 nights of dancing (one of which to a live band), all for $40. Sweet deal. Price goes up to $55 at the door.

Here is the mini-schedule:

Friday night dance from 8:30-1am
Saturday classes from 10-6pm (beginner track and main track)
Saturday night dance with the Lucky Strikes from 8:30-1am
Sunday classes from 10-6pm (main track)

And then stay later on Sunday night for Soul Jam! at Copa (217 Congress Ave, downtown Austin). All of the teachers will be out having a blast dancing to soul music. So should you! This dance isn't part of the weekend (it's just $5 though).
